Our “Palimony” Mediation Services

Palimony is a term that is often associated with the braking-apart of a relationship that was never formalized by a marriage of the two parties. When the relationship breaks apart, the traditional wealth distribution mechanisms of alimony and equitable distribution are not available to the parties — however, courts often do not ignore these relationships, and instead, allocate resources on the basis of equity and contract theory.

As any other form of litigation, “palimony” litigation is time consuming, costly, and the outcome is often unpredictable.

The parties to a failed relationship can often mediate the terms of their separation in a much more advantageous manner than through litigation, thus maximizing the satisfaction of their respective needs, and minimizing the risk of an outcome that may turn out to be most disadvantageous.

To mediate your “palimony” dispute, please send me an email, or call me at (908)486-2200 to schedule an appointment at your convenience.
